{"id":1870,"date":"2020-08-27T20:25:15","date_gmt":"2020-08-28T00:25:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aubreyshines.com\/?p=1870"},"modified":"2020-08-30T20:28:46","modified_gmt":"2020-08-31T00:28:46","slug":"black-lives-matter-killing-black-children","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aubreyshines.com\/dev\/black-lives-matter-killing-black-children\/","title":{"rendered":"Black Lives Matter killing black children"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bishop Aubrey Shines wrote an opinion article this week criticizing the Black Lives Matter movement and pointing out the economic devastation that looting and rioting have caused in minority communities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBLM\u2019s \u2018justice\u2019 has already gotten black children killed on the streets,\u201d Shines, the chairman of Conservative Clergy of Color, wrote in a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/economy\/blm-economic-stress-communities-pastor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fox Business op-ed<\/a>\u00a0titled \u201cBLM brings economic stress to communities it claims to represent.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Shines continued, \u201cIts crusade to replace police authority with an anarchist mob has made it less safe in low-income neighborhoods than before George Floyd\u2019s tragic death. But now we\u2019re finally seeing the long-term consequences; the purging of business opportunities that will only drive minorities further away from prosperity and into the loving arms of government dependency.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Shines drew attention to a\u00a0news story from earlier this month\u00a0in which a trucking company announced it could no longer deliver to cities where police budgets had been slashed out of concern for the safety of the truck drivers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy colleagues and I founded Conservative Clergy of Color because we were afraid something like this would happen if Black Lives Matter was the only voice in the room,\u201d Shines wrote.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese, friends, are the first tangible results from Black Lives Matter\u2019s mad, anti-police crusade,&#8221; he said. &#8220;These are the first far-reaching consequences beyond the violence in cities this summer that has gone so long, it\u2019s beginning to feel lethargic. These are the consequences that BLM\u2019s leadership probably are fully aware of, but that the young misguided social justice warriors that make up their ranks haven\u2019t stopped to think about.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Defunding police, according to Shines, has \u201ccrippled\u201d police departments across the country, and \u201cwe\u2019re just now seeing the economic impact.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe worst part of this debacle is that minority communities, the very people BLM claims to represent, will suffer the most,\u201d Shines wrote. \u201cA weaker police force means less business in a community, and that\u2019s less jobs to go around, including for minorities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Shines joins several other prominent black voices in media and politics, including\u00a0Marcellus Wiley,\u00a0Jason Whitlock,\u00a0Niger Innis,\u00a0Burgess Owens, and\u00a0Carol Swain, who have spoken out against the Black Lives Matter movement.<\/p>\n<p>Favorable opinions of the Black Lives Matter movement\u00a0surged in polling\u00a0following the death of George Floyd in late May.
